Take one thing

Choose one item - or in this case two! - and take different shots.  This was a challenge in Kim Klassen's Bestill 52 class. Had to coerce HI to pretend to be sewing - he's such a willing helper! The reels of thread (old aka vintage) came from a second-hand market stall.  Must have got rid of loads of items like this over the years.  Never throw anything out, at least small things!

  1. I love these old wooden spools, Julia, and what you did here is just beautiful.

  2. Very nicely done. I kept some old spools of thread just because. :)

  3. These are really nice pictures....I don't sew as much, but my daughter in law does. We both have these wooden spools...so much nicer than the plastic from today.

  4. I love this, Julia - what you have done with these simple but beautiful objects redolent of the history of sewing! So full of atmosphere. I have quite a few of these old spools and wouldn't part with them for anything, and also some of those old cards with hooks and eyes, and other bits and pieces of ancient haberdashery!

Thank you for your lovely comment. It's not good news, but you are so right - God is with me every step of the way, and I must take it one step at a time. I so value your support and prayers - may I ask you to pray specifically not that this will be made easier, but that I will be strengthened to get through it in such a way that I continue to be a good witness to the Lord by my positive attitud and joy, and that He will sustain my dear hubby through this - he's been through so much, watching helplessly, and doing so much for me, and all I want is for him to begin to enjoy his well-earned retirement!

  5. Thanks again, Julia - yes, good to be creating again, even if it was only an ATC! Baby steps, but we're on the way. Oncology appointment on Monday for pre-chemo chat, and then the chemo starts the following Friday or the week after that.
