Old and new flowers

Two different uses of flowers - the first a macro image of a clematis with one of my textures, the second a small textile piece using dried, pressed hydrangeas, together with embellished cocoon strippings, stitches and beads added. But where has all the warm weather gone! Even the newly-planted sunflowers have taken a battering in the wind - and they are all part of a competition!

Swerving to orange and blue

A little experimenting with a nappy liner and Markal sticks fused onto brown paper - I'll use this as a background for something.

The embellisher got an airing with this one with some fme on top - again this will be incorporated into something else - to be decided!
I've also had a playing session with friends Kath and Mary making some fabric paper. Another little pile on the table!

More squares

I've been making more squares to add to the ones already made. None are finished yet and I have to admit I don't have a grand plan but am making it up as I go along. I like the textures and the colours and that is what I am concentrating on at the moment before adding more embellishments and deciding how to make them all "hang together". I'm enjoying the journey!

A bit of glitz

Thought I would try the aluminium foil on the embellisher. This is felt, Fuse FX, aluminium foil, embellished, then voile and wool tops added with further embellishing. The foil breaks up quite a bit but still shows through.

The second was a background of black felt with some glitzy fabric embellished on top.
Getting into a festive mood!

A couple of piccies of the embellisher. This make has 5 barbed needles which mesh the fleece/fabrics together; some makes have more needles. It certainly makes felting a lot easier - I found that making felt on the C and G course was always hard work, although some people enjoy the process. I'll be adding some stitching today using my sewing machine. Where has the sun gone?

The colour purple

Looking through these images the main colour seems to be purple, one of my favourite colours. It's hard getting away from colours which appeal to you, so I've given in this time. The heather is covering a lot of the hills in Northumberland now, making the landscape look completely different. Makes you think of autumn though, when we feel it should still be summer!

Another "purple" picture, this time taken in the icehouse at Kedleston Hall, a NT house in Derbyshire. I hadn't expected it to be so colourful.

And some WIP, inspired by some of the scenery and colours we've seen these past few weeks. Done on the embellisher and not yet finished- may add more stitching. Have a happy Sunday!
