Another big adventure

Today a few friends and I completed the last 10-mile leg of a prayer walk along the Northumbrian coast from Tynemouth to Berwick which we started a year ago. The weather was kind to us and we finished in sunshine on the bridge across the Tweed at Berwick.

The coastline is beautiful ...

... and the town of Berwick , which has changed hands 14 times I think between England and Scotland and has been the scene of much bloodshed, looked splendid in the afternoon sun. Difficult to believe that so much contention took place here.

Still things I like

Still on the theme of things, or places I like, and it has to be the Northumbrian coast, whatever the weather (but sun is best!). This is Dunstanburgh Castle a couple of miles from Craster, home of the famous Craster kipper, and the beach at Embleton. Someone once described the ruins of the castle as jagged teeth and it has stuck in my mind every time I see them. We went for a walk here today with the eldest GC who had stayed the night. Good job we normally get up early! But we love having him!
