Tall ship

Blyth is having a visit from a tall ship this weekend and against all expectation the sun shone after a day of rain yesterday! The Russian ship Mir attracted a lot of attention -

and an opportunity to go aboard was well worthwhile. We missed the tall ships in Hartlepool so this was an extra treat.

Passage of time

There's nothing like a few rusty things to brighten one's day! The last image is a mixture of sand and rust, but it will come in useful for "texture" images - well, that's my excuse!

Ghosts of the past

A few sights seen on a recent stroll around part of the quayside at Blyth which was a submarine base during both world wars. Nothing to remind us of them now but it must have been interesting to see. Now the latest industry is windfarming - both manufacturing and testing.
Always something to photograph!

Harbour sights

I don't think these would pass muster at the Camera Club but they caught my eye and might end up as textiles!

One fine day

Spoke too soon - summer has thrown a curved ball. The sea and the harbour beckoned ...

These are a few of my favourite things ....

Well, you have to have a cup of tea when you are at the beach! (and a little something else ...)
HO was there only his cup got cropped. Now that's something you don't often hear!

Evening sun

Sewing has been on the back burner for a while as we take advantage of the good weather. Too good to miss (again)! Here are some piccies of an evening stroll at Blyth beach and harbour.

...... the spice of life

Yesterday we took to the Simonside hills near Rothbury as the weather was too good to miss. HI, or rather HO, enjoyed scanning the skies for aircraft whilst eating his marmite sarnies. Great scenery, heather out, blue skies.

Today was the turn of sea and sand, still lovely weather!

The past in the present

Yesterday we went to Blyth beach to see some of the activities organised for The Heritage Open Days; most of the activies will take place next weekend but there are events happening this weekend on a smaller scale.

Almost all present and correct!

This exhibition of ww2 vehicles, uniforms etc is to tie in with the opening up of the Blyth Battery, the ww1 and 2 coastal defence battery next weekend, Thursday to Sunday. Hope the sun shines!
