Cambags

Having accidentaly left my small camera bag at son-who-lives-a-long-way-away's house, there were times when I didn't want to carry my big (heavy) bag around. A quick look at commercially made handbag-type bags revealed that they cost about £100+, so I decided to make my own using a bought bag and fitting the 'innards'. The first bag cost about £10 -

- and the second (smaller) one was one I already had in the house. I used about a metre of fabric for each bag, one inch foam (bought at an upholsterers), plus sew-in velcro. The dividers can be repositoned to suit the size of lenses, filters and other bits and pieces. I love using them as they don't look like camera bags and they have room for purses, mobile phones and so on. I can also remove the whole unit and put it into another bag - and you can't have too many bags!

Fabric fling

In between playing with psp designs I've been returning to some of my favourite things, one being making a bag, this time for one of our small granddaughters.

Then with some of my Christmas money I bought some fabric (plain red and green) from Ikea, and a couple of remnants at John Lewis. The dotty red is PVC coated cotton which will give me chance to try out the walking foot on the sewing machine.

Next to reading (and smelling!) new books, having new fabrics to use is one of the small pleasures of life ....

Bags of bags

Some of the bags I've made. Actually I'm just testing to see if they made it all the way from Picasa!

Last of the summer bags

Another thing I really like is bags, any shape or size or colour. I've made quite a few recently; these are the latest ones made on rainy days when it seemed as if the sun would never shine again!

These two are children's bags, ready for the beach or a sunny day out, a reminder of summer days and ice creams ...

Next I made this small coin purse with zipped compartment following a tutorial from here. I thought that a bag in the same fabric would complete the set ...

Time to move on to something else now!

Rummaging around

Today I was able to follow a favourite pastime - rummaging around charity shops (aka thrift stores or Goodwill as my sis-in-law in Canada says). I found a large skirt to cut up for bag fabric and then a curtain sample. Seems to be a theme going on here - hope it's not going round in circles!

You can't have too many bags!

I love bags! This is one of a series I made but I'm trying to limit myself - not very successfully. Perhaps some more brooches won't take up so much space!
