There is a short window of opportunity when the sun shines in through the south-facing windows to catch a shot like this, so a quick set-up with the reflections of the glass on the wall behind. We're having a week of high winds with the threat of some snow - I'm not a fan of snow, rather have sun or clouds. I suppose tulips are a foretaste of spring - already in the shops along with daffodils. Hope you are finding some spring flowers where you are!
Spring flowers? We don't get to see those until March usually here in Latvia and that is if the snow has actually cleared. Last year we had a green winter mainly and so saw some early examples, sometimes spring comes in a rush in April.
ReplyDeleteYour picture has a resemblance to a renaissance painting I think. A nice use of the light
A beautiful glimpse of sunshine on the yellow tulip. There are daffodils and tulips at the grocery store now so I hope to buy a bouquet of tulips for some cheer. We have snow now and it's really cold at -15 today but the sunshine on the fresh snow is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, Julia! I truly believe, you are now the queen of dark light images, and mastered the most beautiful touch of light on the subject. This is stunning....it definitely would be breathtaking enlarged and printed for a wall hanging. Oh my!
ReplyDeleteHope you stay warm if you did get that snow. Your sky scape images (IG postings) are beyond beautiful!! I always look forward to seeing them.
Love this minimalist image, Julia, and especially the angles that the leaves and stems form against the dark background. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit and your lovely supportive comment. Mum is not well and has been behaving very badly although things have improved slightly in that direction over the past couple of days. I could do without any hospital investigations on top of all that! Hopefully things will settle down soon.
A very happy new year to you!
Shoshi
This is very pretty! No sign of spring here, with about 6 inches of snow and clouds, but a friend brought me flowers today...now just to wait until April...
ReplyDeleteThank you for such a lovely and encouraging comment after yesterday's news, Julia. For the past few months I've been asking myself "Whatever next??" and was really hoping 2015 would be a fresh start and a period of good things happening!! Well, we'll just have to forge ahead now, do everything they say, and hope and pray for the best. Romans 8:28 comes to mind (as always for me!!) and all I can pray is whatever the outcome, I will deal with it to bring glory to God, full of gratitude for all the good things in my life. That's a good way to live, whether one is ill or well.
