As part of Kim Klassen's BeStill 52 class, week 28 the challenge was to place a chair in front of a window or glass door, together with a few simple objects. This time of year it's a challenge to catch some light suitable for indoor photos but the sun was shining so I had a go. I'm always on the lookout for an old typewriter - really old - the black ones with round keys. Very hard to find although there must be a few lurking in lofts somewhere. However I did find this cushion and cover for 50 pence in the market so this will have to do!
Excellent photograph, love the cushion and what a great price, 50p!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out well. I have my grandfather's old typewriter from the early 1900's. They are intriguing machines.
ReplyDeleteI hope you find that old typewriter lurking around Julia! The pinecones are perfect with the cushion colors.
ReplyDeleteI bought an old typewriter for $3 at a farm sale. Not quite as old as the one you are looking for. I bought it to show my kids and grandkids what I used to use! Ha!
ReplyDeleteLovely! The cushion is sweet and yes, I love old typewriters too. I learned to type on one, albeit a newer model. Have a wonderful Christmas!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a very Merry Christmas, and a bright and beautiful New Year, Julia.
ReplyDeleteLove the picture and its diffuse light, and love the old typewriter. Both Dad and my grandmother had old black ones with the round keys - my grandmother's one had no shift key so the "upper case" letters were actually that - another whole set of keys above the "lower case" letters. So many terms in common use have literal roots and it's fascinating finding them out. Both those old typewriters have now gone, years ago, which is really rather a pity, but you can't keep everything.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your very kind words! I am languishing with the vomiting/flu bug at the moment and not in creative mode at all, but at least I've not been sick today. I've got more soap to make, but everyone's getting it late this year. Can't be helped. Watch my blog for new soaps - I've got a cool garden/workshop one lined up that is nice and manly. Guess who's getting that.
Have a great time over the next few days. Ours is going to be ultra-low key and we're having our Christmas meal in the new year. Phew. The pressure's off. Too much to deal with, with Mum's recent TIA and hosp. visit, and my hubby's broken wrist! Roll on 2015 - it's got to be better than 2014!

I am doing this course next year, have you enjoyed it? I hope you have a lovely Christmas and new year. It is lovely to be back in the uk, we are heading off to sussex to my parents for Christmas
ReplyDeleteHope you've had a good Christmas and blessings for the New Year.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet photo! I see old typewriters quite often in the thrift stores around here, but they are pretty pricey!
ReplyDeleteI do love that typewriter, Julia... Thanks for your lovely comment - so encouraging - and for your good wishes for 2015. I always enjoy my end of year review posts, but it's a lot of work, doing all the links! I find they make me feel better because despite everything else going on in my life, I still manage to produce quite a bit of art!! I love this time of year, with the sense of achievement for the past year, and the sense of anticipation for all the plans for the coming year, even if I don't manage to complete them all!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year.
