dent de lion

I love looking at the small detail, especially in natural objects.  There is something so fascinating about the design.  Who could have thought of something so small but effective?!  The name apparently comes from the shape of the leaves which someone decided  looked like lion's teeth, hence 'dent de lion'.  Better not mention the other French name!

  1. What a stunning photo, Julia - I love the delicacy of it against the dark background. The etymology of the word "dandelion" is a new one on me - how fascinating! I'd never really thought about it. I love your new blog header too!

Thanks for your lovely comment - so glad you like our new house! We love living here and the area is so nice, with everything so convenient and nice neighbours too. I am certainly planning to do some videos once we're a bit straighter, and there will definitely be a video tour of my ARTHaven once there's something reasonable to show instead of boxes and mess! I am getting there gradually, but having to take time out at the moment because my health has crashed and I've got to rest. Lots of daytime TV and Internet time! Can't be bad.

  8. It looks so pretty and delicate and yet each of those tiny seeds spreads in the wind to plant and bloom again. A beautiful photo!
