Red and yellow

It is unusual to see a mixture of red and yellow in fields as the rapeseed (canola) usually flowers in April, but with the cold spring it is mixed in with the poppies this year.  I've noticed that farmers seem to be leaving the edges of fields for wild flowers, good for the wild life which is in danger of disappearing in some areas.

  3. Oooh Julia - just what I was talking about in my comment on your last post! I just love to see poppies like this - it's such a vibrant, exuberant sight! I've also seen (and photographed) them with rape. I also remember seeing, years ago, around Cambridge, vast fields of flax - a truly amazing sight. I haven't got any photos, sadly.

Thanks for your lovely comment! Yes, the builders are brilliant. Can't send them up, though, because despite not advertising, they are sooo busy all the time! (Hence the repartie about getting sacked, in order to have time to do their own thing for a bit!!) Lol! My blog posts could constitute a book. I shall probably make an album one day. This is such a fun time!

  4. What a stunning sight to see! The red and yellow landscape is so pretty. The canola is starting to bloom here too, but no poppies mixed in with it.

  6. You live in such a beautiful part of the country! I've also noticed the poppies and wildflowers appearing on the sides of roads and hedges in Lincolnshire. So beautiful to see this coming back again. Have a lovely week. Chel x
