Vintage card

Quite often you come across vintage-style cards/artwork/textiles on others' blogs so I thought I would have a go at creating one. I used two images - one of a bunch of flowers and another from some script which I typed in and then used the freestyle selection tool instead of tearing up bits of text and sticking them onto card. I'm afraid I didn't keep track of all the effects so hope I can remember what I did if I want to make a similar one.
Some sad news today as we learnt of the deaths of two friends, one very untimely and unexpected and another of a friend in a care home. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families. xx

Mixed bag

I've just received this colourful card from Emma who is celebrating her 50th birthday soon and organised a swap of 50 cards as a special reminder of the day. There are so many elements to this card - paper, paint, stitch, text, fabric and more. Go and look at her blog to see more of her work and the wonderful place where she lives!

Meanwhile, back here on the pavement we found this small but perfectly formed bird's nest, probably a bluetit's I think, pulled out of the tree by those black and white terrorists, the magpies. Later we found smashed eggs. A little drama but quite sad.

I finally got round to stitching this mini-quilt; the image appeared in a previous post. I'm gradually building up a selection which I hope to put together into a larger hanging. One day!

The mouth of the Tyne

Had a very enjoyable evening at Tynemouth with some of the folks from the Camera Club recently. Although I'd been there numerous times I found some new things to photogaph, like the stripy rocks only accessible when the tide is out. (I love stripes!)

The open road

Having made good use of the bus passes this week it was the turn of the bike today. Off to one of our favourite rides - to Kielder and then the Scottish borders and back through Carter Bar on the Scottish-English border. Hardly any traffic and warm sun all the way. Open skies above ....

Full circle

This week I dug out a photo taken of one of my C and G projects - one of six squares (vilene, painted and stitched, cut out, the pattern based on the fibonacci series); the squares were then made into a cube. The next two are the image after altering in psp -

The last image was made into a mini-quilt (a quilt consists of any three layers held together with stitching). I might start another "circle" with this one!

Ghosts of the past

A few sights seen on a recent stroll around part of the quayside at Blyth which was a submarine base during both world wars. Nothing to remind us of them now but it must have been interesting to see. Now the latest industry is windfarming - both manufacturing and testing.
Always something to photograph!
