These lovely blooms were in a heated greenhouse, but even after searching in my flower books I still can't identify them. The second image is of a plant with beautiful petals which looked like frosted sugar with the sun shining behind them. I guess at least one of you will know what they are!
Lovely captures, thanks for visiting my blog, we have relatives in Northumberland in Morpeth
ReplyDeleteWish I could help with identifying these, Julia, but I have no idea what they are. I especially love the first one. Those petals are beautiful, and I love the color.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a wonderful weekend!
For identification it is sometimes easier to see what it is from the leaves. I am guessing the first might be a pelargonium (try the royal pelargonias to compare) and the second a begonia.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Joanna on both of these. Beautiful photos Julia.
ReplyDeleteI'm not good at identifying flowers but both are beautiful. The second reminds me of a wild orchid.
ReplyDeleteThe colors are lovely and a welcome sight in our winter months.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful to see these flowers at this time of the year. I too think that Joanna has it right.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful Julia, both of them. The deep rich color on the first one is dramatic, the second so delicate.
ReplyDeleteHmmm. I have no idea, but the color sure is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous flowers, and such lovely colours too, Julia, and as usual, expertly photographed by your good self! I've got absolutely no idea when it comes to the identification of plants, I'm afraid, but it seems that others are already taking a shot at it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your lovely comment. Dad is too poorly to be discharged yet. The home sent someone to see him today and they say they can't cope with him - but they got him at a bad moment! I am hoping that they don't move him from the hospital where he is being so well looked after. We saw him this p.m. and he'd rallied quite a bit since Sunday but he was very sleepy, on oxygen still, and his lungs sounded pretty congested to me. We've got to take it a day at a time and see what happens.

Love how you captured the light to highlight these.
ReplyDelete[sometimes it pays to be late - I had no clue what they were but will go with Joanna]
I think your flower is some kind of begonia, especially if that is the appropriate leaf at the bottom of the picture. Some varieties grown for their foliage have rather insignificant, but pretty in close-up, flowers.
