Painted tongue

Another beauty seen in Wallington Walled Garden.  Had to look it up but think it is called 'Painted Tongue' which would seem quite appropriate!  If anyone knows it by another name let me know!

  4. These are my husbands favorite flower...beautiful shot too! Salpiglossis, or painted tongue, offers up a kaleidoscope of color, with each flower rich in shadings of pigment and strong veins. Related to petunias, salpiglossis have the same open-faced, trumpet-like flowers. Natives of Chile, they're well worth extra effort to grow

  7. I've never heard of a painted tongue before, Julia, but isn't it gorgeous? Really unusual, and how beautifully you've captured it.

Thanks for your lovely comment - glad you are continuing to enjoy our journey to completion of our house renovations! What a good idea to give guided tours - I could charge a hefty fee for each ticket which will help with the sad fact that I think we are going over budget!!!

  8. Thank you for your lovely comment on my blog about our Dawlish visit - I had to smile because I knew it would be right up your street! In fact all the time we were there and I was taking the photos, and then writing the blog post, I was thinking of you!
