Becoming a rare sight these days, these phone boxes often end up in somebody's garden as a large garden ornament. This one, still in use on the west coast of Scotland, had its own resident snail which moved around from pane to pane. It must have made little sorties to find food!

Oh, Julia, isn't that sweet? A couple of years ago we had a snail on one of our upstairs windows, which meant he had to climb up a rough wall followed by the tile shingles covering the upstairs part of the house! He must have been very determined to get there, and who knows what he was after?

ReplyDeleteI wish we had one of these in our village, no such luck! I tried to use phone box doors from a junk shop as doors in the garden but too heavy to hang ;(
