At a recent Members' Evening at the camera club I took a photo of this eggcup. Thought it would make an interesting image to play with to see what different effects there might be. May try to develop this further, although it won't go into any competitions!
If you are a visitor of textile blogs (and sometimes photography blogs) you will have noticed photos of rust! The colours and texture have an appeal which is often translated into textiles or paintings, part of the fascinating breakdown of objects which were once shiney and new. This was a piece of a rusty something which I picked up (literally) in the Scottish borders and now sits on the windowsill of the porch only to be admired by me, I think! I love it!
In between some great 60th birthday celebrations and meals for my sister I've had time to do a few odds and ends. The first is a book wrap made up of layered fabrics, machine sewn together with some acrylic stamping. The armband was an experiment, again layers of fabrics with wadding and string inside.
On our wanderings after the wild geese we passed this old decaying tree - well, you have to get your camera out .. !
Sometimes you come across a word or phrase which really speaks to you - I came across this when reading Luke's gospel (chapter 12) in The Message -
and the second one was a fabric I made earlier which became this book cover -

I've discovered the magic wand tool this week and played about with it . This is an image of a rusty tractor wheel similar to the one in the last entry. These are some of my favourite colours (even though I try to get away from them!) - I'm still working on a way to be able to combine images like this using a transparent background. I expect it's quite easy but it takes me ages to work it out by trial and error but it's fun getting there! As usual, the handbook doesn't go into so much detail ..
.... not to mention the unusual birds to be seen along this coast!
Well I finally gave up on the beads after sewing about 30 on; I couldn't face sewing another 100+ on. I might use the fabric as a panel in a bag. But I have enjoyed playing with an image of tree branches and making a collage out of the variations. This seems to be the way my work is going at the moment, creating images and transferring them to fabric. I'm finding the tutorials at the Camera Club very helpful in learning more about layers and the enthusiasm is infectious!
